Emi Calva-Terada CLT

Organizer/Instructor

Owner/Therapist of Waterbrook Wellness, LLC, Emi Calva-Terada, CLT

Emi has spent 20 years in the field of lymphatics. One of Emi's missions and passions is to bring awareness of effective, safe, and easy lymphatic system treatment methods to medical practitioners and to bring lymphatic system awareness and self-care tools to the community.

In 2014, Emi participated in a Medical Taping Concepts (MTC)® class held in Victoria, Canada at the launch of CureTape® into the Northern American market. She found CureTape® to be the best compatibility due to its hypoallergenic properties for lymphatic taping, especially for the fragile sensitive skin conditions of the edematous areas to promote safe and effective lymphatic drainage therapy.

It is my sincere belief that Medical Taping Concepts (MTC)® is another effective tool used to bring lymphatic system care awareness to forward-thinking medical professionals.

Testimonial

"Lymph taping helps me by continuing the therapy beyond the lipedema sessions. It can work on areas that are difficult to reach with compression garments."

Kate's Story

Katrien

I got to know Kate two years ago as one of my clients. Kate is a driven, self-motivated, kind soul. When seeking medical help, most physicians will state, "Lose weight." On one of her visits, a physician asked, "How may I serve you?"
This was a profound moment as, for the first time, she felt seen as a person, not a demographic.

Kate has sought supportive help and overcome health challenges. To date, she has lost over 200 lbs. in a short time of 3 years. Kate has Hashimoto's and PCOS and even when over 350 lbs, had normal vitals.

Her secret to her success is eating like an Olympian in training season and keeping a positive outlook. Her motivation was that she did not want to give up on activities she enjoyed. For a long time now, Kate has been leading an active lifestyle. She participates weekly in fencing, renaissance dancing, horseback riding, and weekend getaways.

She is an inspiration to all and a privilege to know. She is one of my heroes, whom I call "Superwoman."

Lymphatic System Awareness

Lymphatic system awareness has increased in our country from 15 years ago. Considering the lymphatic system is the basis of our immune system and circulatory system, it plays a vital part in our whole well-being. Therefore, it is an indispensable part of the treatment of almost all medical problems, ranging from post-traumatic, and post-surgical to chronic disease and pain issues.

A national survey conducted by Dr. Rocksoton, Professor of Lymphatic Research and Medicine, showed that the average time spent teaching the lymphatic system during a four-year medical education is 15 minutes.

We would like to change this and stress the importance of a healthy lymphatic system for a healthy life. The CureTape® will be highly valued by both professionals and patients.

The lymphatic tape will:
  • Improve & Stimulate lymphatic drainage around the clock.
  • Decrease pain - quiet down the pain receptors/nociceptors, inflammation
  • Reduce hematomas and scar tissue formation while increasing circulation to promote faster healing.
  • Combined with an orthopedic cast or compression therapy, it helps move stagnation.
  • Effective, targeted treatment for problem areas of post-surgery edema.
  • High compliance due to being skin-friendly and long-lasting.
A practical, therapeutic tool:
  • Not bulky as it works with exactly the same elasticity as the skin.
  • Easy to apply once a basic knowledge of the taping method is understood.
  • Perfect to combine with muscle, scar, or ligament taping methods.

Medical Lymphatic Taping Has Unique Properties

The body's own recovery process is stimulated by applying an elastic tape material. The special tape has the same elasticity as the skin and by applying the tape in accordance with the anatomy of the lymphatic system as well as positioning the body in a way that the tape is stretched, lymphatic drainage is stimulated 24 hours a day. The tape lifts the skin a little, through which the lumen of the lymph capillaries is opened in the correct direction to redirect the lymph flow. The pressure on the blood vessels is reduced. Moreover, the tape becomes a conductor of interstitial fluid and brings the fluid back to areas where there is free lymphatic flow.
CureTape® has unique properties which make it accessible to almost everyone.
